With the Boom of the Cabbage Patch Kid during the 1980s and 1990s among both girls and boys, there is no surprise that the Coleco company brought out a line of accessories that went with the popular dolls. Sometimes the accessories were sold alongside specialty Cabbage Patch Kids, while others were sold separately. This meant that young children could create a very own ‘world’ for their Cabbage Patch Kid, change their clothes, and set up a nursery. Many of the accessories were made from durable plastic meaning that many still exist almost 40 years later. In this article we will take a look at a number of vintage Cabbage Patch Kid accessories and their current second-hand vintage values.

Vintage Cabbage Patch Kid Clothing
In the earlier years of the Cabbage Patch Kid, many different clothes were available to purchase separately. There were certain clothes marketed for the 16-inch original Cabbage Patch dolls and others that were sold to specifically fit the ‘preemie’ dolls. There were sewing patterns that could also be purchased so that you could create your very own outfits for your Cabbage Patch Kid/s that came with iron-on transfers. These appealed to many mothers during the 1980s as they were more affordable and allowed them to hand craft items for their children as gifts. The authentic clothing would usually have the words: “Cabbage Patch Kids” on them. The Cabbage Patch Kids had their own designer wardrobes with endless options and specialty outfits for different occasions such as sports.
Cabbage Patch Kid Clothes (Outfits)
For those owners who were a little crafty, purchasing a Butterick Cabbage Patch Kid clothing pattern was an affordable and fun way of clothing your doll. It gave owners the ability to add their own special touches to their ‘kids’ clothing. Butterick would have had some affiliation with Coleco at the time to be able to use the Cabbage Patch Kid licensing as the patterns came with iron-on CPK transfers to make the clothing you could sew authentic pieces. Sewing patterns were available for the regular-sized dolls as well as the smaller, petite ‘Preemie’ dolls.
Pre-sewn outfits could be purchased for those that were not confident sewing their own from the CPK patterns. The pre-sewn clothing was packed in two different ways. They were displayed over the top of a cardboard cut-out CPK or in a box with see-through plastic so that potential buyers could see what the outfit looked like. Those that were boxed came with a little coat hanger and were known as the deluxe CPK outfits. The clothes were priced differently depending on if they were a part of a special collection or not.
The outfits were often categorized and the following list includes a handful of the different outfits sold by the Coleco company:
